disasters

This whole earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster is getting me down since we [all] feel so helpless. At this point, I am most worried about the nuclear explosions/leakages taking place. Hopefully, there won’t be too many people or animals harmed before they can get things under control.

My college friend, Mami, is Japanese (from Tokyo) and has since moved back home. I had no idea the earthquake happened until later the next morning, and it took me a few minutes to realize I knew someone over there. I immediately tagged her in a tweet to ask her to let us know if she was okay. I then remembered she had a Facebook page, so I checked that; she had JUST updated letting people know she was safe, as well as her family. Even though the earthquake was almost 12 hours before that time, she was still experiencing scary tremors every 15 minutes in Tokyo, which is 230 miles from the epicenter. However, she was worried about her husband, who was on a ferry at the time in Hokkaido, and she hadn’t heard from him. Minutes later, she told us he was fine, but he was confined to staying on the water until they could come to shore safely. Thank goodness! I am so glad she and all her family is safe. Others are not, so we should all keep praying for them.

GOOD THING: My friend is safe!
BAD THING: lots of people without homes and family members

february weekend

So far, the weekend has been good. Brian and I went to Longhorn Friday night because I could get my usual meal for free. Firecracker Chicken Wraps are the BOMB DIGGITY. I also got a sweet potato. Afterwards, we went to Kripsy Kreme! We hardly ever go – maybe 2 times a year, but we had coupons to get 2 free – so we got 6 hehe. We also rented Cyrus from Publix, and it was pretty good. Today, I didn’t sleep that late. I never do lately because I have stopped taking my muscle relaxer at night, which is why it’s usually so hard for me to get up, I think. Anyway, I got up and went outside to work in the yard/woods. My work was very productive! I’m pumped about that. Afterwards, I took a shower and bummed around the house a while. We went to Surin tonight because we had more coupons, but I ended up not using it because I opted to get soup & sushi instead of an entree. Brian also let me eat one of his crab angels. The dinner was scrumptious. We came home and ate orange rolls! Brian watched a ridiculous movie on tv while I looked online all night, and now that it’s over, there is NOTHING on tv to watch.

Today was so beautiful! I love when it’s so perfect, you just want to go outside when you wake up and never come back in. 🙂

GOOD THING: Choxie is so cute.
BAD THING: have to get up early tomorrow

baby

We went to visit Dan & Carrie’s new baby tonight, and she is so funny! I don’t know why, but I think her face and expressions are just funny. I do not mean this in a bad way – she is very cute. But she makes me laugh! There were lots of people there, so I didn’t hold her, but I can’t wait to visit them after they get home so I can really see her!

I also hope it snows like crazy in a couple of days. They’re saying we could get up to 8 inches, even though I don’t believe it. However, even half of that would be sweet! If it snows a lot, I am not going to work on Monday because I will be playing in the snow. I hope that is okay!

Another good thing is that I sold 2 necklaces online this week, 2 sets of magnets at work, and a friend wants 5 necklaces soon to use as gifts. Woot!

I took Choxie to the dog park today, and she had tons of fun. She actually ran with another dog lots, chased balls and frisbees, and jumped super high lots of times in a row for a huge stick. Woo hoo! She got so tired, and I was happy about all of it.

I am also tired of hearing about Camille Grammer.

GOOD THING: work should be less busy next week
BAD THING:still haven’t cleaned the house

thanksgiving

Thanksgiving will be at my house again. I hope it’s fun! I know it will be delicious. I am going to be a professional turkey and dressing cook after 2 years in a row! I was going to go visit my family, but my cousin decided to have a baby shower the Sunday after Thanksgiving weekend. I thought this rare event was more important than Thanksgiving for this one year, so I’m waiting to go to the baby shower. I am not sure my mother or grandmother are completely happy with me not being there this Thanksgiving, but I am sticking to that reasoning because it’s the only thing that makes sense to me. I would say it’d be nice for both families to be closeby so choosing one or the other wouldn’t have to happen, but for the people I know who do have both families nearby, they still have issues and basically just have to go everywhere for every holiday.

Today has been medium-busy at work, but it’s on the slow side. I would love to leave since I’m not terribly busy because I need to go to the chiropractor. I could go after work, but it’s the one day out of every 2 months that I need to go to a UMW meeting on a Monday evening. Unless I don’t want to go home any time before 8:15, I have to skip the chiro unless I leave work early. (With it already being 3:30, that isn’t really possible.) I think I can hold out until Wednesday after work. If not, I could leave work in the morning and go during the day since they’re closed on Tuesday afternoons.

I hope tonight is fun! It’s the Special Mission Recognition Awards Dinner the UMW hosts every year. We will get to hear all about several people at Trinity who volunteer and give lots of their time to missions around the church and community. The awards are surprises! It’s always fun to see the recipient figure out the presenter is talking about them as they list services, missions, duties, etc. they have done. I know I was surely surprised when I got one a while back. I was so glad the person who presented and talked about me was Dave! I get to see several girls from church, too, so that is always fun.

GOOD THING: The fall colored leaves outside my work window is the source of jealousy for other coworkers who have no windows! (good for me, bad for them)
BAD THING: I have to go fix my crazy hair again before tonight thanks to the rainy weather.

yuck

Today, it feels disgusting outside. After church, I swear it was the most humid day I’ve felt in at least a year. It has now rained some, so that helps for a while. I am in need of some fall weather.

So far today, I have gone to church, eaten lunch with Brian at Taziki’s, rested at home, gone to Target to buy a few small things for the kitchen and most importantly, an extension cord and bulbs so I can finally plug in the “new” lamps by our bed, and eaten dinner. We might run after our food settles. I am currently watching new episodes of Ninja Warrior.

Sundays are usually my least favorite day of the week because they’re incredibly boring, and the whole day zooms by before you’re ready for it to.

Choxie is eating the first meal out of a new bag of food that happens to be her favorite flavor. She doesn’t always eat all her food right away, but she is this time! Hopefully, she loves this flavor so much that she will eat more consistently. Salmon & sweet potatoes are delicious in my opinion, so it’s only fitting that she would love it, too!

I will try to think of something more entertaining to write next time. Sorry, guys.

GOOD THING: finally found a 2-tiered stand for the kitchen that will fit under the top cabinets
BAD THING: getting dark already and too humid during the daylight to work in the woods
