half a day

When I want to post but don’t have much to say or don’t feel like typing tons, I always just do wrap ups of a day or a few days. That’s what you’re getting right now…a wrap up of just what’s happened so far today!

It’s Sunday. We woke up at a decent time, and it would’ve been better if the dog didn’t decide to have a licking party at 8 AM. She ignored me getting up at 6 AM to feed Cora, but I guess we can’t expect to sleep much anyway. We had a good, relaxing morning of eating breakfast (Brian made cinnamon rolls), feeding Cora, checking the internet, and just lounging around. I usually have to go to band practice, but I got a break today. Cora at at the perfect time to get to Contact, so we went and had a good time. The sermon was great! After church, we hit up the Taco Bell drive through for lunch and ate it outside in our back yard while Cora slept. Next came Brian’s haircut. He’s needed one for QUITE a while. We did that outside, too. Cora woke up in the middle, so I did the harder parts with her in one arm and with one hand. It went surprisingly well. She finally let us put her in her bouncy seat for the hardest part. Brian trimmed his beard and showered after the haircut. Then, we took a family walk!!! It is dang hot today. The walk was pretty much a success. We saw several people we knew. Some (but not all) were: Andy & Dawn Wolfe at Matt’s house, Laura Eanes in her car, Phella & Guy working in their new yard (we left them alone), and Catherine Owen at her van. Now, we’re drinking Gatorade and playing with Cora! The dog is passed out on the floor because she got hot and tired on the walk.

Sundays aren’t always my least favorite day of the week anymore!

GOOD THING: The walk was physically easier for me today.
BAD THING: definitely sweaty

I am actually NOT working for the weekend since I don’t work these days, but the weekends still roll around! This weekend, my parents came to visit from Saturday morning until Sunday after church. They love visiting Cora, and it’s nice that they’ll come down here to do so. We went to Moe’s BBQ for dinner and met Brian’s parents there. That is a great place to go eat with Cora! It’s not crowded, it’s laid back, and it’s loud enough in there to drown her out if she cries. Plus, they have good music (usually). Sunday was church, and my parents went with us. It was just the 2nd time we’ve been since Cora was born. Apparently, she farted really loud a couple of times during the special singer’s song! haha

this weekend

Here’s what happened since Thursday. I’m sure I’m forgetting some things, but who cares? Sorry it’s long.

THURSDAY: I took off work to catch up around the house and do a little Christmas shopping. I was only out of the house a few hours before I felt like the Energizer Bunny running out of energy, so I came back home. I did manage to buy maybe 3 small Christmas gifts and some things I wanted for the house. That was successful enough. I also worked around the house a lot – mainly on setting up a guest area in the basement.

FRIDAY: I went to work for half the day and worked around the house the rest of the afternoon. I cut Brian’s hair before my parents came into town just in time for the Mezzell Christmas party. It was pretty fun even though I was mostly just tired the whole time.

SATURDAY: Baby shower! It was nice. We had great brunch food, and I got good things. The other good thing is that it was over by 12:30, so I had most of the day free still. We sat around a lot with my parents because we were tired. Later that afternoon, we went by St. Vincent’s to show them where to go in the hospital before going to The Cheesecake Factory. There, we experienced a true Christmas miracle. It was PACKED. People were coming out saying 2+ hour waits, and my mom went in to check – they told her 45 minutes because she said the heated patio would be ok. Our buzzer went off in five! After we ordered our food, they warned us it could take a while on the food since it was so busy, and we seriously got it all so fast. We basically had our main courses in FORTY minutes from the time we asked about a wait time. SCORE! That evening, we put together Cora’s new swing and high chair. They’re hanging out in the dining room since we don’t need them for a while.

SUNDAY: Church, my parents left, then lunch with Brian’s mom, sister and her friend. Brian and I later went to Babies R Us to swap out the pink swings (2) we got for the yard for the normal blue & red ones, but I somehow misplaced one receipt on the way (found it later, of course), and they didn’t have any regular ones in the store. We also returned one jump up since we got 2 somehow. We also went to Lowe’s and bought some storage stuff – something to use as a bookshelf in Cora’s room and something to help organize my laundry area in the basement. That crap needs organized REALLY bad. We put together the bookshelf tonight.

I SERIOUSLY have to make lots of jewelry tonight to mail tomorrow so people can get them for Christmas gifts. I am not looking forward to it! I am glad for the $, however.

plans

Monday was Halloween, so we got out of dodge to avoid kids coming to our house. Sheena mentioned hanging out, so I said we could see about taking over Brian’s parents’ basement. She requested I make burritos, so I did. We ate burritos, watched Paranormal Activity 2 and laughed a lot. Also, we yelled at Brian a lot to be quiet. MELK! It was fun times.

Tuesday was Circle, and it was just okay. I’m a little over Circle at the moment, and we did a crafty project for the Children’s Ministry, which is hard for me because I want all the things we make to look great, and they never do. It’s hard for me to turn in something that isn’t cute, but whatever. Some people just can’t make things cute. I’m glad our next meeting is our Christmas party!!!

Wednesday nights are booked up, but it’s all fun stuff. That’s what I’m talking about! I now usually have band practice and then come home to Modern Family, South Park, Nick Swardson’s show and American Horror Story. There’s a perfect break from 8:30-9 for me to shower so I don’t have to go to bed any later than normal. Perfect!

Thursday is probably going to be TV night even though I haven’t asked about it yet. If not, then I’ll work on stuff around the house.

On a different note, I have Cora’s curtain fabric in, so I will make curtains soon! Also, once I move some things around in the basement, I will be able to clear out that room and set up the nursery! I need to pick a paint color, paint that room, get the furniture in, and then we will also get new windows. That will be awesome!

GOOD THING: lots of leftovers to eat for dinner this week
BAD THING: indigestion! my throat burns

sunday

Today, Choxie woke us up an hour early – again – but it’s so cute, it’s not bad.

We went to church – Sunday School was good, and the sermon today was cool.

We went to Firehouse Subs for lunch because Camp Taco was closed when we tried to go there.

We had impromptu band practice today with 2 new people – Stuart seemed pleased, and we’re practicing again Wednesday.

Choxie and I both just woke up from a nap on the couch. Fun times. She’s now rolling around on her back down on the rug because that’s what she does when she wakes up.

GOOD THING: Brian and I both like the same baby names for the most part.
BAD THING: Our couch looks like it’s been dragged across someone’s floor thanks to the dog.

wowza

I remembered today that I have a blog! I never mean to go this long without posting.

This weekend, Brian and I took Chox and headed to the lake on Friday to spend the night. I finally finished a book I’ve been reading, and I already know which one I want to read next. I hope it’s awesome! I finally have a very short list of favorite authors, and it is: Barbara Kingsolver and Mark Childress. That’s it. I’m sure there are more people I’d love, too, but I haven’t found them yet.

Today was A Meal & A Deal at church, which is a fundraiser for the Youth Department, and I put 2 necklaces in for them to auction off. They both brought way more money than I sell them for, so I’m glad I could help! I was looking around at everything, and most things didn’t sell for double what the asking price was – but mine did! Most things didn’t even sell for the full retail value, but some went over just a little.

I went to Target tonight at 10, and that is a great time to go! Unfortunately, I didn’t find any clothes I wanted, but I did buy 1 pair of shoes and grabbed Brian some peanut M&Ms.

GOOD THING: Brian was super awesome and studied to teach Sunday School tomorrow instead of me! What a nice surprise!
BAD THING: Choxie is fishassing, and it’s sick. Why do dogs do that?!?!?!?!

sunday -1 hour

today is sunday! this weekend has been really good.

friday was casey’s birthday party! it was fun, and i am glad everyone that came was there. brian had fun, too.

saturday, i slept pretty late for the first time in quite a while. after waking up, i had a delicious biscuit (homemade by brian). after that, we cleaned the house, which took a long time. the only reason it took a long time was because i had about a million articles of clothing to hang up. i also went through several stacks of papers that i’ve avoided forever to weed out the junk. woo! the good thing is: if you wait long enough and ignore the stack, most of it becomes junk by the time you clean it up! 🙂

the reason we cleaned so much is because brian’s college roommate/friend, matt, and his wife, elise, were coming to our house saturday evening to meet and go out to dinner. they live in huntsville now, and matt loves to come to barber’s to ride his bike when they have special riding events. we had fun! we were only with them for 2.5 or 3 hours, but it was good times.

today, we went to church like always.we walked today since it’s walk/bike/carpool to church month. it was a good walk! sunday school was good; we had repeat visitors, and everyone participated in the conversation (including the visitors). contact was pretty good, too. after church, we met with brian’s parents outside the church and rode with them to mugshot’s for a big lunch. his parents liked it a lot, so that’s good. it’s always nice to have another place as an option.

after lunch, we rode to brian’s parents’ house. there, we visited poor pearl, who is still recuperating from her surgery. i also got a few plants from their yard to bring to my hard. after we walked home, i planted them in the backyard. that inspired me to work in the woods, and i made tons of progress. i even drug out this hugh metal thing (which we’ve finally identified as a feeding trough!) that’s been up there for who knows how many decades. we have to find a way to cut it in half before i can put it on the street for pickup because it’s probably a good 14 feet long. after carrying out tons of brush from the woods and getting tangled in some briars, my legs seriously look like i’ve been lashed with a whip and are burning, but they’ll be fine. i look like a sweet tiger!

after working back there, i sat on the porch and read a couple of chapters in one of the books i’m reading.

for dinner, i’ve already eaten some leftover ravioli from one night’s dinner, and i might eat another biscuit later with some apple butter or honey. mmmmmm

now, it’s tv time!

GOOD THING: lots of fun things this weekend
BAD THING: didn’t sleep much last night at all

fat tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday! I started my day off with a donut. At work, we always have a Fat Tuesday lunch, compliments of my mother in law, and it gets better every year! This year (today), we had leftover Fish Market fish, chicken, salad, green beans & hush puppies from an event at the church last night. On top of that was our real Fat Tuesday lunch of sandwich meat, bread & fixings, good, fresh fruit, a fruit and cake trifle, bean & corn dip, chips, cake & icing balls, broccoli salad, king cake and probably something else that I forgot. Anyway, I am very full! I actually didn’t eat any king cake, so I did try to hold back a tiny bit.

Tonight, we are going to Moe’s BBQ with our friends Dan & Carrie because their baby is old enough to get out of the house and go into the public! She has taken her out before, but probably not to a restaurant. We’ll see how it goes! I’m just pumped that I have a great coupon that will get our dinner super cheap tonight.

Other than that, I don’t have much to say about the rest of the week.

However, this past weekend was awesome! Well, Friday was. Saturday was pretty terrible. Sunday was good again, and so was church. Woo! This weekend’s gonna be maybe even better!

GOOD THING: This month is passing by faster than I assumed so far, which is great for me.
BAD THING: Waiting stinks.

busy busy

This week is pretty dang busy. At work, Monday was my busiest day of the year – EXCEPT – it wasn’t nearly as bad as expected! I’ve coordinated the Lil’ Lambs Consignment Sale 11 times now, and this was the easiest time ever. No complaints! On that note, we ran out of seller numbers in 2 days (which should mean it was extra crazy even though it wasn’t). We’ve never run out that quick! It’s fine by me, because that means I only had 2 days of constant phone calls.

Also this week, I’ve had stuff to do every single night, which usually puts me in a bad mood or at least wears me out – depending on what it is. All this stuff is fun except cleaning, so I’m just tired – no bad mood! I can’t remember what Monday was, but I know I cleaned some for the rest of the night, so that took the time away. Tuesday, Kat came over, and we crafted until 8:30. I just watched TV after that until time to go to bed. Tonight, I will go to the church and meet with friends like always to chat. After that, I might go eat with Brian and his parents because Urban Cookhouse is having a fundraiser tonight for a big farm here in town that was ruined in some winter weather. Tonight, ever dollar from take out meals for 4 will go to the farm and its owner. Sweet! Thursday is TV night! It will be fun, duh.

I can’t wait for this weekend! I can’t sleep late Saturday or Sunday, but I will still enjoy every minute of it. Woo!

I showed up to work today, and everyone is talking about snow. What the?! I don’t ever watch the weather, so that was news to me. We’ll see what happens, I guess.

GOOD THING: my pectoralis minor doesn’t hurt anymore! haha – strained it lifting laundry, but the chiro hooked me up
BAD THING: –

procrastination

I am procrastinating by blogging!

I am working on the 2011 yearbook for Trinity’s UMW, and it’s taking forever! It’s not hard, but it’s tedious. I feel like I’m doing a job at work. It wouldn’t be so bad if the computer file I was given had an actual format with tabs and such instead of things badly spaced with spacebars and junk. I am doing my best at fixing most of it.

I even took Choxie to the dog park for a break after working an hour or 2, but she didn’t like it that much. She mostly wanted to stand by me or just come back home. She’s sleeping now in the couch. I guess not having fun wore her out.

Those commercials on tv with sad and pitiful animals who’ve been abused and locked up make me want to cry. I really wish the wouldn’t put those on tv, but I wish more that people wouldn’t be so cruel. My mother in law says there’s a special place in hell for people who torture animals, and I like to think she’s right. Click here to donate help for free to animals in shelters!

I love the gameshow called Baggage! It’s awesome. The worst part about it is that 1 vs. 100 comes on after it, and I don’t want to see that.

GOOD THING: Choxie is super cute.
BAD THING: My neck is SUPER sore today. Ouch.
