dog park

Today, I took Choxie to the dog park after work while Brian was at the dentist. I thought it would be a treat for her, but I think she would rather have been home! When we got there, we were the only people (?) there, so I walked around the park with her so she could sniff around. I was able to get her to run around and chase some tennis balls for a while. Another girl came with her little min pin a few minutes later, so I talked to her. Choxie and her dog, Monte, played for a few minutes, but then they were over it. Three more people ended up coming, but Choxie didn’t want to play anymore. She just sat on the bench with me or crawled between my legs when some bigger dogs got up in her face. After we’d been there 1 hour, I just gave in and took her back home. She is already asleep on the couch, and it’s just 5:30! It is just too hot to run around and play, I guess. My car did say it was 96 degrees.

GOOD THING: dinner tonight at Five Guys to support cancer research!
BAD THING: starving!

father’s day

This past weekend, we went to visit my parents for Father’s Day! We had lots of fun. We went out to eat, hung out, watched some TV, rode around and played putt putt. I had the most fun on Sunday when my dad took me on a motorcycle ride on some of the prettiest roads in Murray County (on the way to Carters Lake), and then we rode over the mountain into Ellijay and the surrounding areas. It was beautiful and so fun! There are some gorgeous places around there, and I’m jealous because I never appreciated it while I was there (as it always goes). Anyway, it was fun, and it was perfect for Father’s Day.

What we did most of all was play with the dogs! That word is plural because my parents have a new puppy! This was the first time we met her. Meet Rosie!

She is so adorable and sweet! Choxie and Rosie played so hard and so well! I was very impressed with how Choxie handled the little puppy. She is so tiny and really young, and along with that comes obnoxious and annoying. Rosie constantly jumped in the air to grab onto Choxie’s jowls (ouch!), neck skin and tail with her puppy-sharp teeth and hang by those body parts. Choxie just stood there and let her for basically 3 days! She never once growled or snipped at her. They are best friends! Rosie learned lots this weekend from having another dog around. We watched her try to copy Choxie’s actions, and she learned how to bark really loud compared to the squeak toy noises she’s been making. It was so cute watching them that we stayed outside on the front porch watching them both nights until we were too tired to stay up anymore. Here are the new friends:

work

Work is so super slow today, and it seems like no one is here at all. On that note, Tim is gone, and a new guy (Drew) is coming next week. I don’t know him yet, but I’ve seen him in person and have checked out his Facebook page. I think he will fit in just fine and be great! He seems like he could be pretty funny, which is always good.

I basically don’t have anything else to say. There is nothing good online lately, and no one is here to talk to. I have a huge stack of magazines on my desk that Suzanne brought me, so I’ve been flipping through those. It’s about to get busy here at work, but until then, it’s definitely the calm before the storm.

On a different note, I am not a fan of the Zac Brown Band. I checked out 4 or 5 of their songs today, and they’re all just typical country songs that are the same as all the other ones out there. In general, the whole country music thing seems to me like one big commercial act. I know that can be said about lots of music and other things, for that matter, but still. There are always a few exceptions, of course.

GOOD THING: only 1 hour left of work
BAD THING: 1 hour left of work haha

first 5k

I almost forgot to even mention our race!

Last Saturday, Brian and I got up ridiculously early to go run our first 5K ever! We didn’t get anyone to take our picture together, which was pretty stupid, but it’s too late, and we can’t do anything about it now. I don’t have that much to say other than we both made it. We never walked, and we didn’t puke, which I was worried about with it being so muggy and early in the morning. We also did not finish last, so that is good. The route started off immediately with a giant, I mean giant hill, but at least it was over with at the beginning. It wasn’t a loop, so we knew we’d have to come back down that giant hill at the end. The rest of the course was full of gradual hills and “pavement” that consisted of paved over gravel, so it was a little harder to run on, but that wasn’t how the entire thing was. The scenery was really pretty, and once again, we did it! We then jumped in the car to go get breakfast at Chick-fil-A down the interstate. In the drive through line, I changed clothes, and Brian got us food. We then returned back to the church to hear Adam Hamilton speak. He is a Methodist minister with the largest Methodist church in the country (I think), and we know of him because Adam writes many Bible studies and curriculum, and our Sunday School class has done several of his studies. Anyway, his talk was awesome. I wish I could’ve stayed to hear all 3! I mostly was interested in his last one on missions and outreach, but it just didn’t work out to hear it.

That night, we drove to Montgomery to have dinner with my old friend Renee and meet her husband (we had just seen him at the wedding) and new little baby, Owen! First of all, I like Jonathan a lot, and Owen is so cute! He didn’t even cry when I held him haha. We had good times, which is the only kind of time you can have with Renee, and then we drove home late that night.

Fun stuff!

GOOD THING: work is over for the day!
BAD THING: stomach hurts

yum

This soup

kicks the coconut soup’s butt that I mentioned! (of the same brand).

This is pretty dang good. I will definitely buy more flavors of soup from Amy’s to try out. This flavor was way better than the black bean vegetable, FYI.

Don’t forget – Whole Foods’ website has coupons on it! Just click on Products, and it’s right there under Online Coupons.

In other news, Choxie caught yet another chipmunk. I love chipmunks and think they’re so cute, so I try to not get sad about it. It helps that I’m really happy for Choxie to be a successful hunter because I know how hard she tries, as in every minute she’s outside and all day long when we’re at work. I just don’t know how many chipmunks are going to keep coming to our yard to meet their death!
