long weekend

Today was my first trip ever to Ikea, and the same goes for Brian. We woke up early to drive over to Atlanta in the rain for some new furniture we had picked out online beforehand. This is what we got:

HEMNES 6-drawer chest

HEMNES Chest with 8 drawers

EXPEDIT Desk

KILAN Bedspread

The rocking chairs I’ve been dying to get there weren’t so impressive in person, so I left those behind. The quilt is not tan and cream, it is a goldish color and a pale yellow/gold, but the color is not great in the picture. That is all!

Tonight, we went to eat yummy BBQ with Casey & Sheena and Sheena’s parents. Then, we went to a sweet pagan store that had lots of crystals, rocks, dragon statues, jewelry, clothes and swords. Don’t forget all the jars of plants, spices and other things for spells! It was funny. Sheena’s mom didn’t like it very much. We also randomly ran into Brian’s cousin there, which is so hilarious because it totally fits.

Our living room looks like a landfill right now, and it’s starting to get on both of our nerves.

I have been putting together Ikea furniture all evening, and it sizzucks.

Oh! I actually got up really early to go shopping on Black Friday with Sheena and her mom. It was a grand old time, and I got 3 shirts and some socks. Toot toot!

We also started painting finally, so we have 1/2 a room done. It’s a yucky color, but we like it.

GOOD THING: long weekend
BAD THING: super sore neck

pre-turkey blog

I can’t wait to eat turkey and dressing! I LOVE IT! We will go to my parents for Thanksgiving Day and eat at my grandparents’ house, but we’ll come back either Thursday night or Friday morning. I hope to get some stuff done around the house over the long weekend. We have painting to do, and we need some furniture! I have my fingers crossed for a trip to IKEA this weekend.

I will add that I love our house! Sure, there are a couple of things that I wish I could change like the colorful tile bathrooms, but I can change all that later. Overall, I love it!

This week, we started planning for the big Walk/Bike/Carpool to Church Month at Trinity, which will be in March. I’m excited! I think it will be so fun and an awesome statement. I am hoping to get a bike before too long and start riding it to work! That would be the coolest thing ever. In the meantime, I can start walking places. Dave walks to church/work from his house, and I could do the same since I would guess I could walk to his house in about 5-10 minutes. It’s a little over a mile with a huge ridge to cross, so it will take some getting used to. Brian walked to his parents’ last night, so at least we can do that.

I am cooking dinner tonight for the first time in what seems like weeks (not counting the 3 big lasagnas I made last week). I have to get used to the Homewood Publix again after going to the Vestavia one for over 2 years, but it’s not that different. I just forget where things are and end up wandering around sometimes. Does anyone know if there’s a bike rack at Publix? I could definitely ride a bike there if I could lock it up. I’ll have to wear a sweet backpack if I do that, though, and I could only do it for a few little things.

I am considering trying to wake up early on Sundays between now and Christmas so I can go to the early traditional service, Sunday School then Contact because I don’t want to miss all the traditional service stuff during the holidays. I am not so sure I can follow through with that plan, though.

What else? I can’t think of anything.

GOOD THING: 1 more work day
BAD THING: 1 more work day

oh yeahhhhhhhh

toot toot!

tidbits

Here are a few tidbits of information from the past little while.

I made 3 lasagnas tonight. I am so tired of them and just tired in general.

I have been working on creating a newsletter at work for our Older Adult Ministry, so that’s been different and nice.

My parents informed me that Fuddrucker’s closed down in their town, and Brian is very upset.

I finally get my hair cut Friday, and my hair is in desperate need of some shaping up.

The house is all ours Friday evening!

I have rekindled my love for Publix key lime pie ice cream this week.

I think Pearl the beagle has lost a little weight.

It is very cold at Brian’s parents’ house.

I realy want to go see Role Models soon.

I won an award Monday night for my environmental efforts around the church!

That’s all I can think of because coffee is ready!

GOOD THING: watching funny South Park
BAD THING: heaaches this week

enjoy

new home(s)

It’s official. We have a house, and the condo doesn’t belong to us anymore. So, we have a new home. But, we don’t get to move in until next weekend, so we have a second new home for a week (Brian’s parents’).

Today was very stressful due to lots of last minute craziness that I don’t want to go into detail about, and we’re still dealing with one thing, but I think Brian just fixed it. We’re trying to be done with the move tonight! We are definitely staying at his parents’ as of tonight, though, even if we don’t completely get every single little thing moved out tonight.

GOOD THING: closings are done, weekend to rest
BAD THING: we have to move again next weekend!

wednesday

Today is Wednesday. That means today was chapel at work, and I love chapel at work. I love that I work somewhere that puts aside some time each week to allow any of us who want to come and re-focus on what we’re here for. It’s a time for prayer requests, praises, song, devotion and bonding with friends/co-workers. I definitely consider it one of the perks of working here. I include it in my list of benefits! Today there were lots of prayer requests – more than normal. It’s wonderful to have a group of people to regularly share concerns with.

I get to leave work early today to go to the dentist, which sounds like a complaint, but I do enjoy going to the dentist since mine is hilarious. I hope it’s fun! I will have to go one more time after this appointment to finish things up. I need a total of 1 filling and 2 teeth fixed that I have successfully cracked under the pressure of my clenching jaws at night (and day sometimes). At least when they go in and fix those 2, they are replacing my old silver fillings. Those teeth will be white and pretty now! Well, as pretty as back teeth can get.

GOOD THING: will own our house Friday!
BAD THING: not sleeping this week

broken record

Here is my broken record blog: We are in the middle of selling our condo and buying the house I was in a race to snag, and all of that comes to an end this Friday when we close on both back to back. Unless something gets in the way, that is the plan! I am very tired of all the phone calls that have been necessary for this process and the paperwork I’ve had to round up, fax and email. It’s all downhill from here, I think, so maybe today marks the downhill cost that will end this Friday! Toot toot for having our own yard and no neighbors through the walls!

I have to go to the grocery store after work today, and that is never fun, but at least I don’t need to get much. I am picking up some meat to cook tonight for dinner and maybe some Raisin Bran for Brian (yuck) and some juice for meeeeeee.

We finally moved some stuff out this weekend, and it’s fun! It’s exciting to look around and see empty spaces where things used to be. Every empty corner is one less space to clean out later! I’m now sure all of our things will fit in Brian’s parents’ basement, so that is a plus. We won’t have to pay for a Pod or anything like that.

We saw another groundhog yesterday! He was sticking up out of his tunnel looking around when we drove by. They’re so funny.

I jsut realized how stinky my breath was. Sick!

GOOD THING: less than 1 week before the craziness stops
BAD THING: lots of work to do!
